The History of National Parks & Recreation Month

National Parks and Recreation Month was established in 1985 by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) to recognize the importance of parks and recreation in enhancing quality of life across the United States. Every July since, communities nationwide have celebrated the essential role local parks, programs, and recreation professionals play in promoting health, conservation, and community connection.

Get outside, get active, and let the adventure begin!
